If you have cosmetic smile flaws, like pointy, crooked, or stained teeth, consider veneers. Veneers can transform your smile, ensuring you look and feel your best. At TLN Family Dental, general and cosmetic dentists Tammeka Nickleberry, DDS, Esther Oluwo, DDS, Taylor Provost, DDS, and Precious Ude, DDS, use veneers to help adults achieve the smile of their dreams. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or ceramic bonded to the front of your teeth. They help cover up cosmetic imperfections that won’t respond to other types of treatment.
Some people get only one or two veneers, but TLN Family Dental recommends getting between six and eight. That’s because a larger number of veneers allows for a more balanced and symmetrical smile.
TLN Family Dental uses veneers to correct various imperfections, including:
You might also benefit from veneers if you have stains that don’t improve with Opalescence® in-office teeth whitening.
At TLN Family Dental, getting veneers takes two visits.
Your provider reviews your dental records, asks about your goals, conducts an oral exam, and takes digital X-rays. If you don’t have cavities or gum disease, you qualify for treatment.
Your provider numbs your mouth with a local anesthetic and removes a thin layer of enamel from each tooth receiving a veneer. Then, they take impressions and send them to a nearby dental lab.
The dental lab uses your impressions to design and manufacture a set of veneers that fit your teeth perfectly.
When the lab finishes your custom veneers, you return to TLN Family Dental.
Your provider numbs your mouth with a local anesthetic and bonds the veneers to your permanent teeth. Then, they remove any excess material, assess your bite, polish your teeth, and provide care instructions.
Taking care of veneers is similar to caring for your natural teeth. TLN Family Dental recommends brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing once a day, and visiting the nearest office every six months for an oral exam and teeth cleaning.
If you play sports or lead a physically active lifestyle, it’s also important to wear a mouthguard. Veneers can chip and crack, but wearing a protective mouthguard can prevent damage. If you follow these suggestions, your veneers may last 12-15 years* or longer.
To see if you’re a candidate for veneers, make an appointment at TLN Family Dental by calling the nearest office or booking online today.
