How to Make the Most of Your Invisalign Treatment
Metal braces are no longer the only option for straightening your teeth. Here are some tips to getting the best results from your Invisalign treatment.

Metal braces are no longer the only option when it comes to straightening your teeth. Invisalign® is a removable, clear aligner alternative to braces. At TLN Family Dental, our experienced team can help you get started with your Invisalign treatment and help you get straighter teeth and a smile you can’t wait to show off!

Here’s how to achieve the best results and make the most of your Invisalign treatment.

Clean aligners regularly

Keeping your Invisalign aligners clean is a top priority. While Invisalign allows for essentially invisible teeth straightening, they can become stained if you do not clean them regularly.

Besides becoming stained, bacteria can get trapped in the aligners if not cleaned properly, leading to further dental problems. To clean your aligners and keep them looking great, use warm water and an antibacterial soap daily.

Brush and floss teeth after every meal

Invisalign aligners completely encase your teeth, making it easy for bacteria to get trapped between them and your teeth/gums. Since your saliva cannot reach your teeth to wash off the bacteria throughout the day, you must brush and floss regularly.

You should brush and floss after each meal and before putting back in your aligners; otherwise, you risk tooth decay, gum disease, or potentially even worse. Oral hygiene is just as important, if not slightly more important, when you are wearing aligners than when you are not.

Do not eat with your aligners in

You should always remove your aligners before each meal, because while eating and drinking may not cause direct harm to the aligners, they will become stained very quickly.

So, if you doubt whether or not you should keep them in or remove them, always remove them  you will save yourself from having to deal with stained aligners.

Store aligners properly

While Invisalign provides a discrete way to straighten your teeth, the nearly invisible aligners can be difficult to find when taken out of your mouth, making it easy to misplace them. They should always be kept in a secure case when not in use.
