Keeping Your Smile Safe From Tooth Hazards and Risks

Posted .

Are you actively monitoring your daily choices to determine if any of them could potentially lead to an oral health disaster? Although it won’t take a long time to do, it is a good idea to set up a checklist of all habits you practice on a daily basis, including traditional foods and drinks you like to enjoy, bad habits you may be involved with, and potential lifestyle choices that can lead to dental damage. Once you have written and analyzed a checklist, it is important to exercise caution or eliminate all tooth hazards from your day-to-day life.

The first item on your checklist should be to exercise caution with all bad habits in your life. It doesn’t hurt to list all potential habits in your life to determine which ones may be having a detrimental effect on your smile. This includes smoking, drinking wine, biting your nails, and binge eating.

Be careful when biting into any products that may be hard or tough. If you are not careful, it can be easy for your teeth to suffer a tremendous blow in the form of dental damage. Furthermore, avoid chewing on pen caps, pencils or any other similar product. In addition, never use your teeth as a bottle or can opener.
