A Missing Tooth Needs to Be Restored

Posted .

When a tooth is lost due to decay, disease or dental trauma, it can affect your mouth in a variety of ways. If the original tooth was located at the front of your mouth it could also cause you to feel uncomfortable about your  appearance, and could affect the clarity of your speech.

If the tooth is not replaced, the space can allow the neighboring teeth to drift out of alignment. This could lead to lost tooth enamel and tooth fractures. Fortunately, our dentist, Dr. Tammeka Nickleberry can often replace a missing tooth with a dental implant.

To place a crown, the [dr._type] team perform a minimally invasive surgical procedure to insert a titanium dental implant into the jaw bone. Once this is done, a natural process, which is known as osseointegration will gradually bond the titanium with the surrounding bone tissues. This will replicate the structural integrity of the original tooth’s root. When the area has healed, the doctor will attach the replacement tooth, cementing it in place with a strong dental adhesive. When properly cared for, your dental implant can last a lifetime.

If you live in the Houston, Texas, area and you have recently lost a tooth, you should call 713-723-2600 to set up a dental restoration consultation at TLN Family Dental.
